With the onset of climate change, cities located by bodies of water are at risk against the increasingly unpredictable and devastating weather phenomena. This, in combination with urban environment’s impervious surfaces, will cause an accumulation of storm water disturbing local infrastructure, adding pressure on the city’s sewage system, and even possibly cause discharge from overflowing bodies of water.
This project aims to promote the individual practice of water-management at the house-scale and in turn educate more people on the importance of water.
The Water-Reserve Plant Pot is lined with a mesh, draining and holding excess water in the basin of the pot during times of excess rainfall, mitigating urban run-off. The plants can also help minimize urban heat stress.
